So it ended up being a pretty busy weekend in terms of exploring. Atlas Steels; a recently closed plant in Welland. Atlas, which officially closed a few months ago, was overwhelmingly huge. The property was perhaps a kilometer and a half in length and consisted of a dozen or so buildings of various sizes. Many of the buildings were pretty dark inside so the photography suffered a bit. I was also kind of preoccupied with just getting from one end of the place to the other which resulted in about 100 or so very lazily composed shots. So yeah.. I'll have to go back again, for sure when I can concentrate on the pick-chas a bit more. The picture above was taken in one of the employee locker rooms. I don't know why, but it's often these sorts of areas that end up being the highlight of a trip to an abandoned place. I guess there's just more of a decipherable backstory to them or something. |
