01/10/05 — Station to Station

Another one from the Toronto Power Company taken today during yet another trip out there-- this time with Kendall. After a good hour or so of waiting for a seemingly endless convoy of police cars to leave the area, we made our way in via the super-slippery reservoir o' death (twas a bit icy), and then proceeded to spend a solid four hours inside looking around and taking as many pictures as we possibly could.

Since these things had tachometers on them (and because howstuffworks.com can only tell you so much), I'm assuming they were used to measure the rotational speed of the turbines.

This shot probably does a better job of showing the atmosphere inside the building. Because the falls are so close, it's a bit like being in a perpetually cold and damp greenhouse, only, you know.. without all the plants.

And as if this station wasn't enough, afterwards, we managed to get inside the much larger one that's located further downstream, close to the base of the falls and, oh wait.. I guess I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here.
