Given the context of this station being closed because of efforts made by my provincial government to phase out all coal-powered generating stations by 2008, it's hard to ignore the instructive words "Gen End" scrawled at the base of this particular piece of machinery. Those words, only intended to mark which end was which are now rich with deeper meaning. It's the end of the generator, but also the end of a generation, the end of an era.
