I (think) I was wrong about the name of this location. The mill is part of the British Canadian asbestos mine which was formerly shut down in 1997 as suggested by the calendar in this photo. I'm still trying to make my way through the history of this region. It's a clusterfuck of eight mines that have either closed or re-opened or that have changed names depending on what company owned them. Currently, they're all owned by one corporation known as LAB Chrysotile, but demand for asbestos has been so low that it can only operate two of these on a sporadic basis six months out of the year. When LAB Chrystotile claimed bankruptcy this past summer, it announced that it would be permanently closing one of the two, leaving little chance that the industry will still be alive in Canada given a few years time.
