Ok, so I finally have a batch of new stuff to post. I suppose everything I post is "new" to everyone else visiting this site, but I really hate having to post sub-par photos taken months ago that I feel were better left on the cutting-room floor. The winter weather's been pretty lousy here in Montreal lately and I haven't been out shooting as much as I was before Christmas, which has actually been a good thing. I think I've needed a month or so off to reflect on what exactly it is I want to take pictures of over the next while and how to go about shooting it. It's also given me a chance to go back and review what I've already taken and figure out what works well and what doesn't in terms of a body of work. I figured January was as good a time as any to do that sort of thing.
As for today's photo, it was taken this past weekend at a titanium dioxide plant located an hour North of Montreal. It closed several years ago (in short, because of foreign competition), but some portions are still in use by a smaller company. I tend to avoid fluorescent lighting when shooting film because it's always a pain in the ass to have to colour correct, but I like what the green cast adds to this particular scene. I also like the jacket and the lockers, but you probably knew that already. |
