Introducing Old Spice. This is a section of Last Call that we finally got around to exploring a couple weeks ago. It was most likely added to the system during the late 1800s to provide relief for the main collector. For all intents and purposes though, it's now abandoned, carrying only trace amounts of groundwater and waste from buildings in the area. The majority of Montreal's sewers tend to involve long slogs through fast flowing water so it was nice to be able to walk through this relatively dry passage. Interesting calcium deposits like the ones seen here are always welcome too. |
