Hello, everyone! Has it been two months since my last update? I didn't realize it had been so long. I guess that's what happens when you buy a house, and well.. a bit of photographer's block probably didn't help much either. I'm feeling a bit more inspired these days though. I guess I was finding that there were fewer things that I wanted to take pictures of. I guess the early days of my site was fueled by my eagerness to take pictures of just about anything that caught my fancy, but over time I guess I've been far more selective in what I shoot. I can't say I'm entirely finished with the industrial stuff, but I do feel as though it's time to wrap it up a little. It's starting to feel a bit redundant at this point. There's a chance I might have a book published consisting of my medium format material. Given that, it feels as though it might be a good time to start moving towards different subject matter if only temporarily over the course of the coming winter to see where that takes me. At the same time, I still want to take more pictures inside the asbestos mills in Quebec because, well, I figure someone has to do it before they tear them all down. I found my way into this particular one over the past weekend. It's hard to get a sense of the scale here, but the turbine blowers surrounding the chimney/cyclone in the centre are close to twenty feet high. Impressive stuff. Even with a half hour left of daylight in grey and overcast weather, this section of the building was simply stunning. The rest of the mill was pretty great too, but more on that later. |
