Cool shot, I love the colors and all they crazy textures

Square is great stuff. Good composition with the natural mess and decay in the foreground against the imposed structure of the "archives" and electric boxes observing passively in the background. The sharpness and the lighting throw the decay at one's attention well. Yet the photo from the room posted awhile back was better, this one seems negatively busy because obviously the room wasn't clean, but the variety in the lighting, the diverse textures, the colours and the lines in the foreground that suddenly stop, make it all struggle for attention, rather than in concert. The foreground and background seem artificially disconnected from each other. All in all smaller depth of field and less harsh lighting could make it work better.

I agree.. it is a bit of a mess, isn't it? The light was actually pretty good but I overexposed it badly. I was able to pull out some of the details in the highlights at the bottom, but yeah.. as a result it does come off looking pretty harsh.

enjoying this reminder of your earlier post from this room. enjoying A.R.'s careful observations of them both. but mostly enjoying your use of the word "intact" in the description. lol.

Andrew. Can you put a link back to your earlier photo, so we can compare?

man, talk about being a perfectionist!
i think little things like the lens flare or the overexposure shouldn't change one's judgement on such a great photograph.

I remember this from the first shot, the wall of tin cans. This is just so chaotic tho, is the ceiling caving in, or something???

I'm thinking you notice the flare more than most! It's a great shot, well worth including in your archives here.

I'm with you on the flare. It's fine for blogging, but it kind of kills the possibility of a decent print. Of course I'm perfectionist too. Are you still using the Canon to meter for the Hassy? Gotta get yerself a handheld. BTW, compositionally I love this photo.

Jon: I have a cheap handheld meter but I think I used the Canon for this shot. The problem was that I had the ISO set incorrectly and didn't realize it until after we'd left.
The other shot that people have been referring to can be found here:
